MTV have recently revealed the first batch of performers for this year’s Video Music Awards, due to take place on 12th September. The line up includes chart toppers Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Usher, Pink and 30 Seconds to Mars to celebrate. All of the guests are indeed part of the nominations for numerous awards that are up for grabs.

Jay-Z is up for Best Hip-Hop Video, whilst his hit duet anthem “Empire State of Mind” with newly wed- Alicia Keys, appears in three categories; Best Collaboration, Best Cinematography and Best Direction. Usher, is up for Best Male Video, Best Dance Music Video and Best Choreography. Whilst Pink gets two nominations in Best Direction and Best Editing and Katy Perry is up for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.
It will be interesting to see who wins what at the star studded event. Who do you think deserves to win?

With ratings out of 10, Nicki Minaj recently went through her top men on the music scene and  the list included Usher, 50 Cent, Trey Songz, Robin Thicke and speaking to Funkmaster Flex she went on further to explain why Kanye West’s super-ego impresses her. 

“Usher, I always liked his, you know, (body) and he’s a great dancer. (Laughs) Robin is a very sexy appealing man, whenever I see him, he looks like a doll. (Trey Songz has) a body to die for.

“If I’m being honest, I’ve never been into the real sexy dude, the dude that do sexy faces and stuff, I don’t even like when girls do that. 50’s cut. (Laughs) 50’s cut. 50’s also, big cut. Kanye’s cockyness makes him a ten. That’s the same with 50 too. They’re so over-the-top confident.”

Covering various topics from being the greatest Hip Hop Producer of All-Time; to his ex-girlfriend Janet Jackson – we were interested in the  ‘disagreements’ he seems to be having with Usher, according to the rumour mills!

There was some talk that you were going to executive produce Usher’s latest album Raymond v. Raymond. Why didn’t it happen?

Well, I didn’t really want to be executive producer of Usher’s projects after Confession. Me as a producer, it’s kind of hard for me to go back into people’s projects when I gave you your biggest album ever…you sold more records than any other artist in this decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me. Obviously, I’m looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it’s the label, the artist, management… whoever it is. I’ve had this same conversation with L.A. Reid, because I’m doing Mariah Carey’s album right now. And on her last album, I didn’t have one song on there. But I did Emancipation of Mimi and she sold more records than she sold in the last five years. What part of the game makes y’all not call me? But I’m not going to keep sticking my neck out. But I don’t feel like I’m supposed to ask to produce anymore. People are supposed to come to me and tell me that I’m the executive producer. That’s why I get more kicks working with younger artists.

Usher ft. Nicki Minaj – Fantastic collaboration on this!!

Usher is on the way to getting married again according gossip blogs, and fathering another child.

Rumours have it that the 31-year-old father of two is engaged to former Def Jam exec, Grace Miguel, 42, who is apparently three months pregnant with his child. Snapped a couple of days ago in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park alongside Usher’s two sons. Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster didn’t seem too happy with the pictures and said on Twitter:

“I thank you all for your confirmation that I’m dealing with a pure bitchass dude. How did this happen? What part of the game is this? Never again.”

In September 2009, In Touch Weekly reported that Usher and Grace were officially a couple and had been dating for six months – and that their relationship caused the Usher’s marriage to end with Foster.

Let’s hope it all sorted out as amicably as possible!

Currently riding high in the charts with O.M.G, Usher took time out to speak with MTV’s blog The Wrap Up – ahead of the release of his new album Raymond V Raymond.

Usher told The Wrap Up: “‘Raymond V Raymond’ is my evolution, the dichotomy of who I am as a man and as an artist. It is me verses me at the end of the day. Not in any way bipolar or an alter ego, simply the fact that we have two sides to our personalities. It’s the perception of who we are and the reality of what we have to deal with.

“The last two to three years of my life have taught me a lot about myself as a person; becoming a business man, getting married, having children, going through a divorce. And there lies a responsibility, an obligation as an artist that I just can’t ignore. Finding a balance between those two places is what ‘Raymond V Raymond’ is all about.”

Usher also went on to say how proud he is of his young protégé Justin Bieber, but that Jay Sean and Taio Cruz have a lot to prove to sustain!!

Quincy Jones has tweeted a link to the first video collaboration to be taken off his latest album ”Q: SOUL BOSSA NOSTRA”!!

‘Strawberry Letter 23′ is a remake of the Brothers Johnson 1977 hit and now features Akon on vocals . The album is heaving with some super singers : Usher, Ludacris, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, LL Cool J, John Legend, Snoop Dogg and more…

According to Hits Daily Double, Usher has sold 346,000 units to top the US chart this week. Not bad right?

‘Raymond Vs Raymond’, his follow-up to the 2008 album ‘Here I Stand’ clocked in with more than 50,000 sales of the number two record, last week’s chart topper ‘My World 2.0’ by Justin Bieber.
