After images hit the net showing Mariah Carey looking quite ’rounded’, hubby Nick Cannon took to his US radio show yesterday to ’stifle’ growing rumours that his wife was pregnant.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again – when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her…We all know it’s extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff.”

“That’s something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure, in any situation …There’s a certain time limit you’re supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don’t want to mislead anybody.”

It’s been 9 years since Aaliyah Dana Haughton died tragically in a plane crash that left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and fans.

Close friend Missy Elliot spoke with MTV News via e-mail (below) and shared some of her favorite Aaliyah memories.

MTV: When you look around today at some of the current R&B stars, who do you see traces of Aaliyah’s influence in?

Missy Elliott: I think it’s hard for Aaliyah to be duplicated, because she had her own lane. But Ciara is an R&B singer who loves to dance, and Aaliyah was that same kinda artist. We knew when she dropped a record, we couldn’t wait for the video. I think Aaliyah has influenced artists like a Ciara.

MTV: How do you spend a day like this, where everyone is mourning the anniversary of your friend’s passing?

Elliott: I plan to spend my day the same as any other day, because there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of [Aaliyah] or watch a video or play her music. I miss her every day.

MTV: Do you know of any update on the plans for an Aaliyah movie?

Elliott: As far as a movie for Aaliyah, I’ve been hearing some things but don’t know how true they are, and out of respect for her family, I would wait until they announce it. That way we will know it’s a fact.

MTV: I’m sure you have so many memories of Aaliyah. What was it like the first time you met her?

Elliott: When me and Tim first went to work with her, we were so nervous. She was such a big star, and I was scared she was gonna be some diva, sipping on tea, with people fixing her hair and nails, and she would say, “What is this music you got! It’s wack!” But when we walked in the studio, her smile made the whole room glow! She was like “Heyyyyy!” and gave us big hugs and made us feel like we were her cousins from down South. She was a very sweet spirit! Never seen her angry as long as I’ve known her, and in this business, that’s unheard of!

MTV: What memory do you revisit most when you think about Aaliyah?

Elliott: We’ve had so many memorable times. My most memorable is when me, her and Tim wore outfits alike! It was burgundy Pony outfits to the awards. Mind you, Aaliyah was petite so her Pony outfit looked so cute on her, but I kept looking at mine during the awards whispering to her saying, “I feel like a big-ass pony for real!” And we laughed and laughed! Too many memories to state them all! If she was still with us, she would still be at the top. Because she always stayed pushing herself to be better.

A ruling barring Wyclef Jean from running for Haiti’s presidency is final and cannot be appealed, an electoral council lawyer says.

The 40-year-old hip-hop star has said he will appeal after the council said he was not eligible to stand in November polls. The Haitian constitution requires candidates to have lived in the country for five years prior to an election.

Mr Jean lives in the US, but says he has been a roving ambassador for Haiti – He argues that this exempts him from the residency requirement.

Jean said in a blog posted at The Huffington Post: “Though I disagree with the ruling, I respectfully accept the committee’s final decision, and I urge my supporters to do the same.” He urged supporters to respond “peacefully and responsibly to this disappointment.”

It’s sad and official!!

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren are now divorced.

Their papers were finalized in Bay County Circuit Court in Florida. The court documents state that Woods and Nordegren have signed a Marital Settlement Agreement, which typically includes terms of child support, alimony and the division of assets, and that Elin will revert to her maiden name: Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren but no official settlement terms were divulged.

As for the cause of the split, all the documents say is that they have lived separately since Woods’s November 2009 car crash and that, “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”

“While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us,” The former couple said in a joint statement.

Lil Wayne has sent out a warning his Cash Money protégés Drake and Bow Wow to stay out of trouble.

Currently serving an eight-month sentence at the Rikers Island prison in New York on weapons charges, Lil Wayne has grabbed the opportunity to give Bow Wow a lecture during a recent visit.

The 23-year-old explained: “It was a humbling experience and one thing he told me when I went to visit him was ‘Bow, this ain’t for us… This ain’t built for cats like us. Don’t do it man, just stay out of trouble. You and Drizzy, stay clean, stay doing what y’all do, y’all can do this forever. All of this, it ain’t worth it.’

“I knew he meant it, cause Tune never lectures me,” Bow Wow explained. “He was serious.”

Bow Wow, who joined the Cash Money label a year ago, also said Lil Wayne is keen to tour when he is released. “When he gets out, we definitely plan on this Young Money/Cash Money tour: myself, Nicki, Drizzy, Wayne and the whole entire family.”

Drake has also already revealed that a Welcome Home Weezy concert is scheduled for 5 November!!
